I&#8217;m <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/statinvictim\">@statinvictim<\/a>\u00a0on twitter.<br \/>\n&#8211; &#8211; &#8211; &#8211;<br \/>\nThere are several well known experts who warn of statin adverse effects and discuss the overall hype behind statin use.<br \/>\nI recommend the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr Duane Graveline, former Apollo astronaut and NASA medical Doctor. His &#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.spacedoc.com\/\">spacedoc<\/a>&#8221; statins website is chock full of resources.\u00a0(<em>Sadly, Dr Graveline died on Sept 5, 2016. \u00a0His website is continuing).<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Cardiologist Dr Barbara Roberts who wrote: &#8220;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Truth-About-Statins-Alternatives-Cholesterol-Lowering\/dp\/1451656394\/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&amp;qid=1472578485&amp;sr=8-1&amp;keywords=the+truth+about+statins\">The Truth About Statins<\/a>&#8221; book. \u00a0See her <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BarbaraHRoberts\">twitter<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A few medical researchers and medical journalists have devoted a lot of time warning about statins. \u00a0I suggest.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Dr Zoe Harcombe (in the UK). \u00a0See her <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/zoeharcombe\">twitter<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Dr MaryAnne Demasi (in Australia). See her <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MaryanneDemasi\">twitter<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Dr Aseem Malhotra (in the UK}. See his <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrAseemMalhotra\">twitter<\/a>\u00a0or his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.co.uk\/dr-aseem-malhotra\/great-statin-con_b_9607316.html\">Great Statin Con<\/a> article<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8212;&#8212;-<br \/>\nSome articles I consider most useful are linked below. \u00a0I tend to avoid articles written by vitamin sellers or other commercial interests. I look for sound medical research.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>I like <a href=\"http:\/\/www.westonaprice.org\/modern-diseases\/dangers-of-statin-drugs-what-you-havent-been-told-about-popular-cholesterol-lowering-medicines\/\">this article<\/a> by the Weston A Price foundation. It is anecdotal and a dozen years old, but it is a nice place to start.<\/li>\n<li>Here is a<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC2949584\/\"> thorough summary<\/a> of statins effects on skeletal muscles by the American Physical Therapy Association in 2010. \u00a0Show it\u00a0to any PT person you may see.<\/li>\n<li>One of many articles on <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/pii\/S1550413115003939\">statin induced myopathy<\/a>\u00a0(from ScienceDirect, 2015).<\/li>\n<li>Large scale 2015 &#8220;tricare&#8221; study linking statins and diabetes summarized\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/news\/2015-05-strong-statin-diabetes-link-large-tricare.html\">here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Dr Stephanie Seneff of MIT published a\u00a0good overall statin mechanism <a href=\"https:\/\/people.csail.mit.edu\/seneff\/why_statins_dont_really_work.html\">summary\u00a0<\/a>in 2011.\u00a0And one from 2010 about <a href=\"https:\/\/people.csail.mit.edu\/seneff\/statins_muscle_damage_heart_failure.html\">muscle and heart damage<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A 2013\u00a0article by Zoe Harcombe about a book by Drs Yoseph &amp; Yoseph subtitled <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zoeharcombe.com\/2013\/10\/how-statin-drugs-really-lower-cholesterol-and-kill-you-one-cell-at-a-time\/\">how statin drugs kill you one cell at a time. \u00a0<\/a>\u00a0 Read the conclusion for sure.<\/li>\n<li>One about how\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.tandfonline.com\/doi\/abs\/10.1586\/17512433.2015.1011125?journalCode=ierj20&amp;\">statins stimulate atherosclerosis and heart failure<\/a>\u00a0from 2015. Shocking.<\/li>\n<li>Statins and muscle atrophy \/ mitochondrial damage\u00a0from <a href=\"http:\/\/mitochondrialdiseasenews.com\/2015\/06\/11\/simvastatin-induces-muscle-atrophy-genes-independently-mitochondria-alterations\/\">Mitochondrial Disease News<\/a> in 2015<\/li>\n<li>An eye opening <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thennt.com\/nnt\/statins-for-heart-disease-prevention-without-prior-heart-disease\/\">NNT study<\/a> from 2015 that shows the statins side effects of muscle damage and diabetes are 11 of 100 (way above the benefit rate, for otherwise healthy people).<\/li>\n<li>Watch for interactions with other drugs: <a href=\"http:\/\/pharmacistsletter.therapeuticresearch.com\/pl\/ArticleDD.aspx?nidchk=1&amp;cs=&amp;s=PL&amp;pt=2&amp;segment=4421&amp;dd=280606&amp;AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1\">clinically significant drug interactions<\/a><\/li>\n<li>Two detailed research articles on statin myopthay (including genetic factors) I received from Prof Georgirene Vladutiu at the Univ of Buffalo (both in pdf format): \u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Statin-associated_muscle_sym.pdf\">Statin-associated_muscle_sym<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Thompson-et-al.-J-Am-Coll-Cardiol_2016.pdf\">Thompson et al.
