Much is written about what might work to mitigate statin muscle damage. I can’t say anything works effectively, but various Doctors, websites, and articles suggest remedies. I am trying the following.
Coenzyme Q10. Everyone agrees about taking CoQ10. This essential enzyme is severely reduced by statins. Will taking it now help? – not sure. But I’m taking 300mg ubiquinol CoQ10 daily (as Cardiologist Dr Peter Langsjoen suggests). Ubiquinol is the more absorbable form of CoQ10 (vs ubiquinone).
Magnesium malate 250 mg
Vitamin D. Everyone except perhaps sun worshippers need more vitamin D. I’m taking about 4000 IU daily. Folks say to also take vitamin K2 to help with vitamin D absorption.
Cod liver or fish oil – one tablespoon daily (or eat salmon)
CBD Oil – 60mg/day. CBD is Cannibidiol oil from hemp plants. It is related to marijuana, with no THC. It is thought to help normalize the immune system.
Diet: Limit sugar and carbs, avoid fruit juices, eat “good” fats like olive oil, avocado, etc. A Mediterranean or Keto diet is said to be helpful (anti-inflammatory). Drink lots of water, too.

Drug treatment for myositis (muscle inflammation) in the medical journals generally involves four levels: steroids, the methotrexate familiy of drugs, biologic drugs (like those for RA), and IVIG.
Here is a good summary paper by Dr Marinos Dalakis in 2015 –> Inflammatory Muscle Disease – Dalakis
A similar treatment article from Johns Hopkins in 2012
I tried steroids a couple of times and it didn’t help (and they can cause high blood sugar). My neurologist doesn’t think the other levels of treatment would help since he says my “immune-mediated” condition is not autoimmune. But he has me on gabapentin, a nerve pain medicine. We’ll see if it helps. [see 2017 update for my IVIG treatment]
